Ingredients:
- 1 cup red lentils (Masoor dal)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp mustard seeds
- 1 dried red chili
- Curry leaves
- 1 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Wash the lentils thoroughly.
- In a pot, add lentils, water, turmeric, and salt. Bring to a boil and then simmer until lentils are soft.
- Add coconut milk and cook for another 5 minutes.
- In a separate pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, dried chili, and curry leaves. Fry for a few seconds.
- Pour this tempering over the lentils and mix well.
- Serve hot with rice or flatbreads.
